Presentations at Scientific Conferences

  • ECSS Prague 2019
    ECSS Prague 2019

    The Annual Congress of the European College of Sport Science (ECSS) is one of the most prestigious events in sport and exercise science in the world. ECSS was founded in 1995, and this year was their 24th congress, which was held in Prague with 2703 participants from around the world.

    Dr Stefan Kolimechkov presented a study on body composition and nutrient intake of Olympic and elite rhythmic gymnasts at the parallel sessions of the 24th Annual Congress of the ECSS in Prague. The participants in this study consisted of a unique sample of world-class rhythmic gymnasts, bronze medallists from the Olympic games in Rio 2016, and gold medallists from the 2017 and 2018 World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships.

    BASES Conference 2018

    The BASES conference is the top scientific event in sport science in the UK, and it is organised by the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES).

    Dr Stefan Kolimechkov spoke at the 5 slides in 5 minutes Free Communication Sessions at the BASES Conference in Harrogate. He presented preliminary findings from the study on physical fitness of young artistic gymnasts, which was part of the following project: Assessment of the Physical Development in Bulgarian Artistic Gymnasts, won by the following researchers from Bulgaria: Assoc. Prof. Dr Kiuchukov, Assoc. Prof. Dr Petrov, Assoc. Prof. Dr Alexandrova, Dr Yanev, Dr Zaykova, Dr Kolimechkov & Mr Stoimenov, and funded by Grant ‘08/15.02.2018’ from the National Sports Academy, Sofia, Bulgaria.

    13th FIEP European Congress & 29th FIEP World Congress 2018

    The FIEP Congress is organised by the International Federation of Physical Education (FIEP), which is the oldest institution in the field of Physical Education. In 2018 was the 13th FIEP European Congress, which was joined with the 29th FIEP World Congress in Istanbul, Turkey.

    Dr Stefan Kolimechkov presented at the parallel sessions of the 2018 FIEP Congress in Istanbul, Marmara University. His research was on the reference gap in the European physical fitness percentile scores for the Alpha-fit test battery.

  • ICASS Congress 2017
    International Congress of Applied Sports Sciences 2017

    In 2017, the National Sports Academy 'Vassil Levski' (NSA) organised the First International Scientific Congress of Applied Sports Sciences (ICASS) in Sofia, Bulgaria. The Congress was dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the National Sports Academy.

    PhD student Stefan Kolimechkov presented a study at the parallel sessions of the 2017 ICASS Congress on physical activity assessment, which was conducted on primary school children.

    12th FIEP European Congress 2017

    The FIEP Congress is organised by the International Federation of Physical Education (FIEP), which is the oldest institution in the field of Physical Education. In 2017 was the 12th FIEP European Congress, which was held in Luxembourg.

    PhD student Stefan Kolimechkov presented new software, called ‘Beep Shuttle Junior’, for assessing the aerobic fitness in children and adolescents, during the poster presentations of the FIEP New Leaders Programme at the 12th FIEP European Congress in Luxembourg.
